Currently reading: Nissan to unveil Azeal Coupé in Detroit

This is the first car to come out Nissan's new American design studio in Farmington Hills, Michigan - the Azeal concept. Due for an unveiling at next month's Detroit show, it's described by its creator as a pocket rocket - 'an affordable, high performance entry-level coupe with an emphasis on personality and aggressive styling.'

Billed as a junior 350Z, the Azeal is based on the shared C-platform architecture used by Renault's Mégane. Although details will remain scare until its public unveiling next month, a Nissan spokesman told Autocar that its future would most likely be as a road-going coupé for the States, given its US design and unveiling. Any European future for the car remains uncertain at this point.
