Currently reading: Panda prices are negotiable

Deals on the Fiat Panda are finally starting to pick up , with many main outfits not giving discounts on the current car of the year.

Pick of the bargains from main dealers looks like being from Scottish chain Arnold Clarke. Its Fiat outfits will currently sell you a 1.1 Active for £5688, a £607 saving on the £6295 list price.Other chains are coming up with offers, too. The same model at Reg Vardy franchises south of the border is retailing at £5995. But when we enquired, the salesman indicated that further discounts could be on the cards on the 1.1 Active and on more expensive models.Shopping online can also pay dividends on the Panda. Brokers Broadspeed will sell you a UK-supplied 1.2 Dynamic with air-con for £6746, a massive £749 off. And from online brokers www.drivethedeal.com it will set you back £7056.There are some tidy deals to be had on the Panda’s key rivals, too. Getting £500 slashed off the list price of any CityRover is now easily on the cards. And there’s even more largesse at Daewoo dealers if it’s a Matiz 1.0 you’re looking for. A quick ring round netted us a £600 discount on a £7495 1.0 SE+ five-door.Bad news, though, if you’ve got the Daihatsu Charade in your sights. Dealers are still unwilling to let one out of the door for less than list price.
