The Porsche Macan Turbo is a fast, do-anything Porsche SUV and the Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic is Britain's 4x4 alternative.

Both are meant to do a similar thing: be a sports car, off-roader and estate car all in one. On paper they're quite similar: the Porsche Macan Turbo costs from £68,000 and does 0-62mph (0-100kph) in 4.1seconds, thanks to plenty of power - 434bhp - from its 2.9-litre twin turbocharged V6.

The Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic, from Land Rover's SVO department, does things in a slightly more old-school way. It has a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 with 542bhp, but it's a heavier car so it can get from 0-60mph in 4.3sec. It costs from £86,000.

Join our testers we we compare the two back to back in our twin test review to find out which is the best fast SUV you can buy.

Jack of all trades...

Would you really spend over £85k for one of these and if you did would you ever take it off-road?

Pointless cars in an enviromentally aware world.
