Piers Ward
Title: Associate editor

Piers first started working in journalism in 2003 as a road tester on Auto Express and then, from 2006, spent nearly a decade at Top Gear magazine before joining Autocar as associate editor in 2020.

Spot the time gap? Thanks to a couple of 90 right swerves into unusual career choices, including project managing multi-million pound construction projects and working for a PR agency, he’s seen plenty of the world from the other side of the fence. Coupled with his lengthy experience of road testing most cars currently on sale and writing about some of the more outlandish sides of the industry, he has a unique perspective when editing Autocar’s features section.

As associate editor, he is also a regular contributor to drives and news, as well as frequently interviewing senior executives and coordinating all podcast content under the stewardship of Mark Tisshaw.
