Audi e-tron GT: attention-grabbing style

Let’s face it, the words ‘company car’ aren’t exactly synonyms for ‘head-turning’ or ‘stylish’. Well, that’s exactly where the Audi e-tron GT is changing the game – even compared to premium rivals. In fact, Marc Lichte, Head of Audi Design, described the e-tron GT as: “The most beautiful car I’ve ever drawn”. How’s that for a start?

Up front, the imposing bumper and large intakes work with the honeycombed, single-frame grille and X-shaped Matrix LED headlights (Vorsprung trim) to immediately signal Audi’s sleek e-tron design language: perfect for making the ultimate first impression.

Further back, the muscley rear haunches, swooping four-door coupé roofline, commanding rear diffuser and large 19in standard alloy wheels all work together to create a sporty, powerful presence on the road. Finally, the broad rear LED lightbar spans the entire width of the car to leaving a lasting impression as you leave.

As you might expect from the experts Audi, the e-tron GT’s design isn’t all about aesthetics. The streamlined, low-slung silhouette works with clever active aerodynamics to create a drag coefficient of 0.24Cd: this allows the Audi e-tron GT to cut through the air even more efficiently and helps deliver an all-electric range of up to 303 miles (WLTP). With the Audi e-tron GT, form and function meet in perfect harmony.

Audi e-tron GT: business-class comfort

Inside, the Audi e-tron GT has all the cosseting ambience of a classic driver-focused gran turismo car, thanks to its wide centre console and low-slung seats for the driver and front passenger. Throughout the cabin the Audi e-tron GT features a wealth of sustainable recycled materials that feel incredibly premium, including the option of seats with a leather-free upholstery.

It also features a comprehensive roster of smart connected tech that makes every drive even more enjoyable. In front of the driver, the crisp 12.3in digital virtual cockpit works with the head-up display to project vital information directly in your eyeline – meaning less time looking away from the road.

Move along the minimalist dashboard and you’ll find the enormous high-definition and intuitive 10.1in MMI touchscreen – the control centre for the entire car where you can tune driver settings and bring up your favourite music, podcasts and radio stations. Speaking of which, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come as standard which makes syncing your smartphone to the car a total breeze, while the optional wireless charging pad keeps your device topped up when you’re on the move.

In addition to all the seamless smartphone integration, the Audi e-tron GT features an integrated wi-fi hotspot – making it the perfect on-the-go office – with always-on connectivity for the wealth of advanced Audi connect services: which include a smart e-tron route planner for calculating the most time-efficient route with the fewest and fastest charging stops.

Intuitive cloud-powered ‘Hey Audi’ voice recognition lets you control many key commands without even lifting a finger, while the optional Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound System (which comes fitted as standard in the Audi RS e-tron GT) adds an extra degree of in-car Audi audio opulence.

Thanks to the Audi e-tron GT’s flat low-slung batteries, the 40:20:40-split rear seats offers plenty of legroom and headroom for whoever you bring along for the ride. And, if you’re heading off for a three-day conference, or a long weekend away with friends and family, the Audi e-tron GT’s boot offers up to 405 litres of luggage space, while the front trunk under the bonnet offers an additional 81 litres.

Audi e-tron GT: big range and fast charging

So it looks great, it’s comfortable and it’s packed with oodles of tech – but how far can it go? Well, as we’ve already mentioned, the Audi e-tron’s advanced 93kWh gross-capacity (84kWh net capacity) lithium-ion battery offers a whopping 303 miles of range on one charge*.

But that big range figure isn’t the defining factor for what makes the Audi e-tron GT a great company car. It’s time to rethink how you use it. First, the beauty of home or office charging means that you have the potential to start almost every journey with a full battery – something you can’t ever 100% rely on with a petrol car.

Then, factor in the fact that even a company car driver doing 12,000 miles a year is only driving an average of between 20 and 40 miles a day (perfect for school runs, the commute to the office, and maybe ticking off the evening food shop) and it’s easy to see how you can do up to a week of standard trips on just one charge.

When it comes to going the extra mile for work or play, the Audi e-tron GT still has you covered. Consider the 211-mile drive from London to Leeds: that’s a 4hr30min journey that you wouldn’t do without pausing for lunch, or at least stopping for a quick coffee and the chance to check your emails.

Thanks to the 800V tech under the Audi e-tron GT’s skin, you can access ultra-rapid chargers with up to 270kW charging speeds, which – in optimum circumstances – can add up to 62 miles of range in as little as five minutes, or recharge your battery from 5% to 80% in as little as 23 minutes*.

Audi has even thought about how to make paying for charging easy, earning you extra bonus points with whoever manages your expenses claims. Using the Audi Charging Service, you get simple one-card access with one monthly subscription to around 400,000 public charging points across 27 European countries – including access to ultra-rapid chargers from the IONITY network.

Plus, the Audi e-tron GT’s e-tron route planner intelligently calculates the best route and optimum charging halts for your journey, and works perfectly with the ultra-smart one-stop myAudi smartphone app – letting you plan your next trip in advance, keep tabs on your charging, or even pre-heat or pre-cool your Audi while it’s charging from the comfort of your sofa or your office, ensuring that you have optimum range and optimum comfort from the moment you step into your car.

Audi e-tron GT: out on the road

It can go the distance, then. But, as any discerning user-chooser knows, spending quality time in your company car isn’t just about getting from A to B – it’s about having some fun while you do it. Well, with 40 years of Vorsprung Durch Teknik DNA coursing through its veins, the Audi e-tron GT takes company car driving to new heights.

First, the two electric motors – one on the front axle; one on the rear – work in tandem to provide confidence-inspiring quattro all-wheel-drive for optimal grip in all-weather conditions. Not only that, but the powerful motors deliver 476PS and 630Nm as standard, or up to 598PS and 830Nm on Audi RS e-tron GT models: that’s enough for a 0-62mph sprint in as little as 3.3sec.

But the Audi e-tron GT isn’t all bark and no bite: with low-mounted batteries that keep its centre of gravity low, near 50:50 weight balance across the axle and adaptive three-chamber air suspension – available as an option on the Audi e-tron GT quattro and included as standard on the Audi RS e-tron GT – you get a precise, engaging and smooth driving experience on every road.

Intelligent regenerative braking also adds to the Audi e-tron GT’s visceral driving experience by adding that old-school engine braking feel (while also pumping energy back into the battery for later use). A wealth of clever aero blades, active cooling inlets and the active rear spoiler all work together to keep everything planted to the road and as efficient as possible.

But on the days when you just want to relax, the ultra-quiet all-electric powertrain makes motorway progress hushed and refined. At speeds of over 56mph the trick suspension will lower the car by up to 10mm to create a sleeker, more slippery profile that cuts through the air more efficiently, contributing further to that 303-mile range. And when you head into town, you can increase the Audi e-tron GT’s ride height by as much as 20mm for getting over those awkward speed bumps and parking ramps.

The Audi e-tron GT also comes with a wealth of driver assistance systems that lend a supporting hand as standard – including Audi pre-sense basic, Audi pre-sense front, lane departure warning and cruise control. The optional Tour Pack adds traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control and cruise assist for motorways, while the City Assist Pack adds Front Cross Traffic Assist, Pre-sense Rear and Lane Change Assist to help you navigate the unseen hazards of the urban jungle.

And speaking of unseen hazards, Audi’s optional Matrix LED headlights (available with Audi laser light on the Audi RS e-tron GT that doubles the range of the high beam at speeds over 42mph), help you carve through the darkness and give you an even more commanding view of the road ahead.

Then, once you reach your destination, the Audi e-tron GT’s optional 360-degree cameras and remote park assist feature – which lets you control your parking from outside the car with the myAudi smartphone app – help you guide your way into a parking space with the maximum of confidence and the minimum of effort.

Audi e-tron GT: compellingly low running costs

Considering everything we’ve covered so far, there couldn’t be a sweeter cherry to sit atop the Audi e-tron GT’s cake; nor a better reason to stick it firmly at the top of your company car shortlist. But when it comes to running costs, that’s where the Audi e-tron GT becomes a really compelling company car choice.

Using home charging with an average electric rate of 34p per kWh, the Audi e-tron GT costs between £91 and £94 per month to run for a driver doing 10,000 miles per year, compared to £142 per month for a petrol-powered Audi A6. That’s an instant fuel saving of £576 per year.

When you consider that we typically do most of our home charging overnight (when your car is parked up anyway, and electric rates are lower), you could be saving even more. Using an EV-friendly overnight tariff of 17p, for example, you could spend as little as £38 per month or £456 per year to run your Audi e-tron GT.

Another big cost-saving benefit of picking an all-electric Audi e-tron GT right now is road tax. Based on the current vehicle excise duty (VED) rates – which remain fixed up to April 1st 2025 – the road tax for electric cars is currently set at £0 for both the first and subsequent years. You’re also not currently eligible for the ‘premium car tax’ for vehicles with an on-the-road purchase price of £40,000 or more.

Finally, if you live or work in the heart of the city, all-electric cars like the Audi e-tron GT are currently exempt from any clean air zone (CAZ), urban low-emission zone (ULEZ) charges, which could save you £15 per journey based on the current London congestion charge. Plus, depending on your local council, you could be eligible for certain discounts and benefits, including local charging and parking.

Audi e-tron GT: salary-friendly BIK rates

Finally, we come to the benefit-in-kind (BIK) that every user-chooser is familiar with. Thankfully, the fact that the Audi e-tron GT is all-electric makes for one of the most compelling reasons to consider it as your next company car.

The ultra-low benefit-in-kind (BIK) rate for all-electric cars, which is currently capped at 2% until the end of the 2024/2025 tax year, means that a user-chooser eligible for a company car on salary sacrifice can drive the Audi e-tron GT for as little as £29 per month based on the 20% salary band, or just £58 per month for someone in the 40% bracket.

Thanks to the Audi e-tron GT’s low BIK rate, you get a lot of Audi from the get-go, but that low BIK rate also lets you opt for a higher trim or even more added options and features. For example, the Audi e-tron GT Vorsprung is available for £37 per month for a 20% taxpayer or £75 per month for a 40% taxpayer.
